Lagos - The police in Lagos on Thursday confirmed the death of a young man allegedly killed while struggling with others to share money donated by a politician in Ajegunle area of the metropolis.
The spokeswoman for the state command, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the incident said the matter was being investigated.
Braide disclosed that some people had been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to her, the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
"The suspects will be charged to court after a thorough investigation,’’ she said.
However, a reliable source in the area said that the incident occurred when the politician, who had come to inspect ongoing projects, donated large sums of money to the youths.
The source said attempt by some people to prevent some social miscreants (area boys) from bolting with the money led to a free-for-all.
"The money the politician brought when he visited the area caused the fight at 7-Up Bus Stop, Ajegunle.
"There was a heated argument over the sharing of the money; a fight ensued and in the process, a man was killed at the scene,’’ said the source.
