Abuja - The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has sentenced an illegal oil dealer to four years in prison.
Gideon Nuka Vopna has been sentenced without an option of fine after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge bordering on illegal dealing in petroleum products preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to statement EFCC issued, the convict was intercepted sometime in January 2010, by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSDC) at Kpopie Junction in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State with 33 000 litres of crude oil in a truck.
He was handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and prosecution.
Justice Agomoh ordered that the truck and its contents be forfeited to the Federal Government.
