Abuja - The Lagos State Government has dissuaded local mechanics from located their workshops along gas pipelines.
According to senior government official, the warning came amid security implications and dangers associated with such actions.
The state government has thus directed an enlightenment campaign to educate those to desist from such.
The State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode gave the directive to the State Ministry of Environment to the exercise with a view to making those engaged in such operations to relocate in order to prevent disaster.

The Ministry of the Environment and Kick Against Indiscipline (KIA) Brigade has already commenced inspection around the gas pipeline area and has started making the general public aware of the dangers and security implications of their continued stay in such places.
The KAI administrator Deji Badejo, while addressing those involved around the Otedola Bridge, warned them on the dangers, such as explosions, of the action.
He told them that the land was reserved as setback for the gas pipeline and urged them to voluntarily vacate the place for their safety.
