Minors rescued from Taraba kidnap kingpin

Abuja - The Taraba State Police Command has rescued 17 children from a suspected kidnapper who specialise in abducting youngsters.

The suspect, whose identity police had not disclosed, was arrested in Ibi local government council of the state while attempting to sail the children through River Benue to the neighbouring Plateau State.

Confirming the report, the Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji, said the arrest was made possible by a police patrol team which had been keeping vigil in Ibi and other parts of the southern zone of the state.

He added that the police authorities had directed that the case be transferred from Ibi to the command headquarters in Jalingo for proper investigation. 

Kwaji stressed the need for the people of communities in the state to always draw the attention of their community leaders to the presence of strange individuals in their areas.
