Abuja - The Army has announced more success against the Islamic militant Boko Haram sect.

Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, confirmed the breakthrough.

He said the troops laid the ambush at the Boko Haram crossing point into Sambisa Forest at Iza and engaged the terrorists who succumbed to the superior firepower of troops and fled.

“At the end of the encounter two of the terrorists were killed. Some abandoned their supplies and fled," Usman said.

A general purpose machine gun and one AK47 rifle were recovered, Usman said.

The Army spokesman added that other items abandoned by the terrorists included three bicycles, provisions including maggi, potash, peanut and onions
