Calabar- The National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) said it had seized expired products and sanctioned offenders at the ongoing trade fair in Calabar.
The Deputy Director , Mrs Doris Akalusi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that NAFDAC was in the trade fair to sanitise people about fake and expired products.
Akalusi said that the offenders were being punished administratively.
``Our presence here is to ensure that the products which do not meet NAFDAC standard are seized and destroyed.
``The products that have been expired are displayed for sale, this is a serious offence.’’
She said that members of her team were on the alert to ensure that all products in the trade fair were duly registered with NAFDAC.
``Products must be registered accordingly, NAFDAC is ready to register any product that meets its standard,’’ she said.
NAN reports that the Calabar trade fair stared on May 5, and it will end on May 18.
