NAMA, SA airspace agency enhance partnership

29 December 2014, 09:24Augustine Osayande

Abuja - South Africa’s sole air navigation service provider, the Air Traffic and Navigation Service (ATNS), has held high level deliberations with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

These border on collaboration and synergy of the two agencies in areas of operational technology, development of CNS/ATM infrastructure, training of personnel and exchange programmers.

Senior Executive of Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), Ducani Sangweni, led a top management delegation to NAMA headquarters in Lagos.

He said the visit was “to establish closer ties with NAMA and foster a harmonious operational and business relationship between two of Africa’s leading ANSPs and the deliverable in all of these is safety of the African sky”.

Managing Director of NAMA, Ibrahim Abdulsalam, was open to partnerships that would enhance its technical capacity in airspace management and also improve the overall safety portfolio of the nation.

Abdulsalam appreciated ATNS for past collaborations like the ICAO Flight Plan 2012 and assured that the Agency would explore further areas of co-operation with the South African agency especially in air traffic control, engineering and training of personnel.
