NAMA seeks synergies to secure airports

23 September 2015, 10:13Augustine Osayande

Abuja - The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has advocated for synergies with the Police to enhance security at aviation facilities.

This would particularly boost security and safety of Air Traffic Management and Communication, Navigation and Surveillance infrastructure deployed in airports across the country.

Managing Director of the agency, Engineer Ibrahim Abdulsalam, stated  this while receiving high-powered delegation of the police led by the new Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, Victoria Menta, to the NAMA Headquarters in Lagos.

Abdulsalam noted that a close synergy and collaboration with police and other security agencies would ensure the nation’s high-tech Air Traffic Management facilities remained safe and secure for effective and seamless flight operations.

He appreciated the Airport Police Command for the maintenance of law and order as well as security of infrastructure within the nation’s airports.

“NAMA would continue to promote operational harmony and synergy among aviation and security agencies at the nation’s airports as this would make for safe, efficient and effective service delivery,”  Abdulsalam said.

Menta commended NAMA for maintaining safety of air navigation in the country.

She stressed that their visit to the agency was to ensure that the Airport Police Command had direct interface with all stakeholders in the sector where issues of mutual interest would be addressed.
