NAN loses former GM

14 May 2013, 16:01

Lagos-  A former General Manager (Technical Services) with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Odeyemi Ijadeyila, died in the early hours of Tuesday at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).

Ijadeyila died during a brief illness.

Speaking on the development, the Managing Director of the agency, Mrs Oluremi Oyo, described Ijadeyila’s death as a sad loss.

``I received with shock the death of a former member of management, who was not only my friend, but also a devoted member of staff of NAN.

``He worked assiduously towards the expansion and introduction of new products in the agency and he was someone who took his Christian faith seriously.

``Even after his nonagenarian mother passed away some months ago, he continued to contribute to the growth and development of the agency, especially in multi-media.

``We will miss his kindness; on behalf of the agency, I condole with his wife, Yetunde, and the rest of his family. May his soul rest in peace,’’ she said.

Ijadeyila joined NAN on Aug. 22, 1980 and rose to the position of General Manager (Technical Services), before he retired at the age of 60 on Nov. 15, 2012.

A native of Owo, in Ondo State, he served the agency in many parts of the country and was employed for a year on contract in the agency in January.
