Ogun - The Ogun Command of Nigeria Drug Law enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it arrested 80 suspects over allegations drug trafficking and possessions.
The State Commander, Mr Mohammed Mohammed on Wednesday that the arrest was made in the last six months.
Mohammed said that six of the suspects had been convicted, and that the command also seized four tonnes of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, among other drugs in the months under review.
He also said that three of the convicted persons bagged life imprisonment.
Mohammed, who promised that the command would do all within its reach to make the state safe of illicit drugs, admonished the state government to assist the command's efforts.
"The state must be aware that drug is the major root of crimes and societal vices and so, it must partner with NDLEA to address drug abuse and trafficking,” he said.
