NEMA appeals for more assistance to IDPs

Abuja - The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has appealed to stakeholders to immediately deploy relief aid to camps housing refugees in three states worst hit by insurgency.

The agency appealed particularly for more drugs to the internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.

Director General of NEMA, Muhammad Sani Sidi, made the appeal after meeting with key stakeholders from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, National Centre for Disease Control, World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund.

Sidi said the assistance would further strengthen supports to IDPs especially in the areas of healthcare for women and children as well as water sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

CAJ News established that some of the identified challenges are malnutrition, malaria, communicable diseases and snakes. - CAJ News
