NEMA donation enables detection of earthquakes in Bauchi

Abuja – The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated some seismic equipment to the Centre for Geodysey and Geodynamic in Toro, Bauchi State. 

According to the agency the development is in continuation of supports for early detection of earthquakes.

Director General of the agency, Muhammad Sani Sidi, presented the equipment to executives of the centre in a ceremony in Abuja. 

He said the gesture was aimed at supporting the centre towards early detection of dangerous seismic activities to assist in proactive management of disaster.

Centre for Geodysey and Geodynamic Director, Dr Tahir Abubakar Yakubu, appreciated agency for the gesture. 

He said the support from the agency was timely and would strengthen activities of the centre.

NEMA, in May this year, commissioned the seismological centre it supported at the University of Minna. 

The agency has also supported more centres that would soon be commissioned.
