Abuja - The National Health Insurance Scheme has expressed
that each states should come up with their own health insurance agency,
Executive secretary, Dr Femi Thomas, stated such a workshop
that was held in Abuja. According to Thomas, states could also develop their
own formal and informal sectors and equity banks for the poor.

The National Health Act which has just been passed can go
through these equity banks to better the lives of the vulnerable, added Thomas.
The main reason for the scheme is for people to be able pay
as they use and be easily accessible.
The Health Management Organisations will be the ones driving
the new programme.
