NSCDC arrest 5 for defrauding traders

16 April 2013, 16:09

Katsina - The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday said it had arrested five suspected fraudsters in Charanchi Local Government area of Katsina State.

The commandant of the corps in the state, Ibrahim Mai-Zabura, told newsmen in Katsina that the arrest followed intelligence report received from traders in the area.

Mai-Zabura said the suspects had collected money from their victims under the guise of supplying goods to them from their companies on market days.

He said that the suspects had allegedly collected money ranging between N100 000 and  N150 000 from the victims without supplying the goods.

The commandant said that the traders reported the matter when the suspects failed to supply the goods after three weeks.

Mai-Zabura said that officials of the NSCDC subsequently arrested the suspects and charged them to court.

He called on the public to be conscious of the people they transact businesses with to avoid falling victims of fraudsters.
