NSCDC arrests 2 bricklayers for theft in Jigawa

21 September 2015, 07:51

Dutse - The Jigawa command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Sunday said it had arrested two bricklayers for alleged theft of power generator and water pumping machine.

The state NSCDC Commandant, Mallam Muhammad Gidado, told news men in Dutse that the suspects were arrested in Hadejia Local Government Area.

Gidado said the suspects, aged 35 and 28, were arrested after they stole the items belonging to one Garba Adamu of Kwatalo in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area on September 13.

He said that the generator cost N15,050 while the pumping machine was valued at N40,500.

The commandant added that the matter was initially reported to the men of the command operating in the area by the victim.

He said that Adamu told the corps that he suspected the duo of culpability in the theft of the items which were inside the building they were constructing for him.

The victim, he said, also claimed that the suspects were the only ones in possession of the key to the house.

He added that when the corps visited the scene, it was discovered that the door of the house was neither broken nor tampered with.

The commandant said the suspects had, however, denied the allegation, adding that investigation into the case was ongoing after which the suspects would be charged to court.
