Port-Harcourt - The National Judicial Council has suspended the newly appointed Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice P. N. C. Agumagu, Daily Post reports
The NJC stated that Justice Agumagu’s appointment was illegal, as it did not comply with the provisions of the constitution, which stipulated that a state governor must appoint a Chief Judge on the recommendation of the NJC.
The Rivers State government, however, stated that the decision of the NJC to suspend Agumagu, was inappropriate as the body does not have the powers to suspend the Chief Judge of any state.
