Abuja - The new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, has called for commitment, dedication to duty, hard work and honesty in order to advance the cause of Nigeria’s Foreign Policy.
He expressed gratitude to the President Goodluck Jonathan, for considering him worthy of Ministerial appointment, adding that he would endeavour to justify the confidence reposed in him.
The Supervising Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof Viola Onwuliri, commended the new minister for his achievements in his previous positions, especially in the international arena.
She noted that Wali had served meritoriously as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations based in New York, United States from 2004 to 2007.
She also wished him a successful tenure in office.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry, ambassador Martin Uhomoibhi pledged the support and commitment of members of staff.
He described the coming of the new minister as "home coming" as he would be operating in a familiar terrain.
Wali was appointed into the position last week following a cabinet reshuffle.
