Abuja - The leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces is scheduled to complete the handing and taking over processes with symbolic ceremonies at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja later Tuesday.
The Defence confirmed the arrangements ahead of the handover.
The events will commence with the Handing and Taking over at the Headquarters of Nigerian Air Force by 9:00 am (local time) and later at the Naval Headquarters.
“The handing and taking over processes of the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces will be completed on Tuesday 21 July 2015 with symbolic ceremonies at the Services Headquarters and terminate at the Defence Headquarters,” the Defence stated.
It added that all the Service Chiefs were expected to be in attendance at the Defence Headquarters during the exercise.
President Muhammadu Buhari recently approved the appointments of Major-General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin as the Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General T.Y. Buratai as the Chief of Army Staff and Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as the Chief of Naval Staff.
Others are Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff and Air Vice Marshal Morgan Monday Riku as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The service chiefs’ assumption of office come s almost two months after then-President Goodluck Jonathan handed power over to Buhari.
