Abuja - Voting on constitutional amendment is scheduled to commence today after the House of Representatives delayed the exercise yesterday in order to utilise the electronic voting system.
Speaker of the House, Aminu Tambuwal, said members decided to adopt the electronic system so as to make voting faster and more effective.
He apologised to the public for the delays.
“I appeal to the members of the public to please bear with us. What is worth doing is worth doing well,” said Tambuwal.
On Tuesday, the law makers emerged from a closed session that lasted almost three hours, to adjourn voting for Wednesday to allow members obtain and use the i-Pad devices to enable them vote electronically.
The National Council for Women Society (NCWS), a women’s pressure group, was among organisations that expressed concern at the delay.
