Johannesburg – Adams Abbas, former consul-general and his driver were confronted by armed robbers who followed them from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, IOL News reports.
Abbas is in South Africa to visit his family who lives in Magaliessig which is north of Johannesburg.
The four men who followed the former diplomat from the airport to his family’s home, and forced Abbas and his driver out of the car by gunpoint. The police arrived soon afterwards and arrested one suspect while another was killed, the other two escaped with Abbas’ laptop and luggage and his driver’s cellphone.
Abbas is the forth attack on a Nigerian diplomat being followed from OR Tambo airport this year and police are suspecting that there might be links between the attacks.
