Nigerian pair rewarded after Mt Kilimanjaro climb

01 October 2015, 10:44Okoro Chinedu

Lagos -  A leading technology firm has rewarded two Nigerians for correctly predicting the time a Tanzanian mountain guide took to ascend and descend Mount Kilimanjaro.

Allan Thairo and Dennis Murii Irungu had the most accurate predictions on how long it would take Julio Ludago to climb Kilimanjaro, with 11 hours, and 10 hours, 45minutes and 30 seconds respectively.

Courtesy of technology firm, Intel, they will receive tablets for their efforts after Ludago put up a spirited fight to complete the climb.

He finished the clim in 11 hours, 8 minutes, thus becoming the second Tanzanian and African to make this attempt to climb and descend the highest mountain in Africa in the shortest time on record.

Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 5 895 metres above sea level and is part of the Kilimanjaro National Park in Tanzania.
