Abuja- and the entire West African region have been urged to join hands together in the fight against increasing insurgencies, a senior official has said.
Nigeria's president of the senate, David Mark, made his renewed appeal on Tuesday (today) at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to come together and chart a way of handling the growing insurgents ravaging the region.
In a statement made available to CAJ News Abuja Bureau, Mark said the unabating cases of insurgencies in the country and the entire West African region were an issue of grave concern.
He said the terrorist attacks have reached an alarming stage beyond the capability of a single state to confront, hence calling for member states to unite for a purpose.
Mark added that the destiny of the West African nations was tied together before urging them to come together in order to find solutions to the issues of insurgency, poverty and under development.
He said there was lot to gain by coming together as a bloc and by having common approach to challenges that can stop the intractable crisis facing the region.
