Notorious armed robber killed in Warri

12 February 2014, 15:25

Delta - The Warri Area Command of the Nigeria Police on Tuesday said it had killed a notorious armed robber identified as Etuma at the Igbudu Market, Warri.

The Area Commander, ACP Hussani Rabi'u, told newsmen in Warri that other members of the gang ran away with various degrees of bullet wounds.

He said "Etuma has been on the police list of wanted persons."

He added that the robbers attempted to snatch a bag containing some money from a woman, noting that the woman was still in coma in an undisclosed hospital in Warri.

The efforts of the robbers were foiled with the assistance of a vigilance group, he said.

The area commander said a cut-to-size riffle was recovered from Etuma and his remains have been deposited at the mortuary, while the investigation continues.

"The command has put in place effective security measures to ensure that there is no hiding place for criminals in Warri and its environ.

"We have identified some black spots and we have intensified patrol.

"I commend the vigilance groups for giving useful information to the police."
