Taraba - Taraba State Government officials are tightlipped over the future of Governor, Danbaba Suntai, or reports he was returning to Nigeria after making steady recovery in a United States hospital.
Suntai has been abroad since October last year to recover from injuries he sustained during a plane crash in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Recent reportS quoted Suntai’s wife, Hauwa, as saying the Governor was expected to depart the Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Center New York for Nigeria on Sunday.
Efforts by this agency to get information on how the state government was preparing to receive the premier on his arrival drew blanks.
When contacted, the former Governor of the State, Reverend Jolly Nyame said , “It would not be good for someone of my status to work on speculation.”
The State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism Emmanuel Bello, who also agreed to have seen the reports of Suntai’s homecoming, was less convincing.
“Journalists have being consistent in telling the world that Governor Suntai would someday return to the country as soon as his medics authorize it,” he said.
Suntai’s reported return comes amid politicians in the state asking Taraba State House for his impeachment to enable his deputy, Alhaji Umar, who has been acting as governor since the accident, to permanently take over.
