Abeokuta - The Speaker, Ogun House of Assembly, Mr Suraj Adekunbi, has enjoined Christians to use the festive period as a time for spiritual renewal by showing love to the needy.
Adekunbi said this in Abeokuta on Monday in a statement signed by the Information Officer, Mr Taoheed Lawal, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
While noting that Jesus Christ was an apostle of love, compassion and forgiveness, the speaker urged all Christians to imbibe and exhibit these virtues in their daily lives.
The speaker also urged all Nigerians to respect and tolerate one another, irrespective of tribal or religious beliefs, stressing that these were are essential ingredients for the nation’s socio-economic and political stability.
He expressed confidence that the nation would emerge stronger, in spite of the challenges confronting it, and urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the nation's development in all fields of human endeavour.
Adekunbi also pledged that those at the helm of affairs in all tiers of government would be more committed and work diligently to make life more meaningful for the populace.
''I want to assure you that government will be more committed to make life more meaningful for the citizens of this country.''
