Abuja - Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), Urhobo ethnic nationality chapter, Delta State have threatened to shut down the Utorogun Gas Plant, Vanguard reports.
The communities which staged a protest last week asked the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NDPC) operator of the plant, to agree to their demands.
Chairman of the group, Efe Okovwurie, said as part of their demands, they demand release of one day production in every 30 days to host communities to cushion the hardship experienced by host communities from the negative impact of oil and gas exploration in our land.
The shut down of the plant could affect several areas and industries in Lagos, Ogunu and environs, plunging them into darkness.
