Ondo Assembly to pass laws promoting tourism

Akure - The Ondo State House of Assembly on Monday promised to pass relevant laws that would complement the efforts of the state government in projecting the tourism and cultural heritage of the state.

The Chairman, House Committee on Culture and Tourism, Mr Felemu Bankole, made the promise during an oversight visit by the committee to the state’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Akure.

Bankole, representing Akoko South West II constituency, commended the efforts of the ministry in projecting the cultural heritage of the state for global attention.

He also the commended the ministry for sustaining the indigenous cultural and traditional heritage in the face of modernism, adding that laws would be passed to enhance the maximum performance of the ministry.

Earlier, Mr Kayode Akinmade, the Commissioner for Information and supervisor of the ministry, had said that tourism had the potential to enhance the economic growth of the state.

He solicited for approval of funds to sustain the cultural heritage of the state.
