Ooni of Ife: Traditional Council confers with Aregbesola

Osun - The chiefs of the Ile Ife traditional council have met the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, amid an air of uncertainty over the passing of the Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade, Punch reports.

The governor’s meeting with the Ife traditional title holders at his office in Osogbo, lasted for about 10 minutes.

The council members were led by the Lowa of Ife, Joseph Ijaodola, along with the secretary of the body, Adetoye Odewole.

The chairman of the Senate Committee on Rules and Buisness, Babajide Omoworare, and other top Osun State government functionaries, were in attendance.

Aregbesola thanked the chiefs for holding forth the monarch’s domain while he was away and he prayed God to give the monarch long life in good health.

The prominent traditional ruler died in London, United Kingdom Tuesday evening, at the age 85, Ile-Ife sources confirmed.
