Lagos - The Christian Association of Nigeria plans to organise protests in response to the decision of the senate to enshrine under age girl marriage in the Constitution, Punch reports.
Last week, a bill to amend the constitution was passed by the senate to amend the act and it has led to outrage across the country.
Reacting to the anger of Nigerians up and down the country, Ayo Oritsejafor, CAN president, said he is prepared to lead protests against the bill.
Sponsored by former Zamfara State Governor Ahmed Yerima who in 2010 married a 13-year old Egyptian girl, the new bill will classify married girls as adults whatever their age.
