Oshiomhole pledges quality education

27 September 2013, 13:23

Benin - Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Friday underscored his administration’s determination to ensure that every child of school age in the state received quality and compulsory basic education.

The governor made the declaration in Benin when he inaugurated the seven-man Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Oshiomhole, however, said that the board should strive to ensure high-quality basic education in the state via recruitment of quality teachers and making purposeful decisions.

He noted that although the challenges facing the board were quite enormous, it could overcome them through the members’ cooperation and exhibition of a high sense of patriotism.

Oshiomhole, nonetheless, warned the board, under the leadership of Steven Alao, against wasteful spending, saying that prudence was the watchword of the state government.

Responding, Alao assured the governor of the board members' commitment to justify the confidence reposed in them.
He said that that they would do their best to take education in the state to a greater height.
