Oyo Assembly confims 2 new commissioners

09 November 2012, 10:11 -

Oyo - The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday confirmed the nomination of Alhaja Mutiyat Adeyemi from Atiba and Mr Taiwo Otegbeye Lagelu, as new commissioners in the state.

Their confirmation followed the screening of  the nominees by the lawmakers on the floor of the house.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the state government on Nov.6, sent the two names to the house for confirmation as commissioners, following a minor cabinet reshuffle in which three commissioners were dropped.

When the two new commissioners came to the plenary session for screening, the house unanimously agreed that Otegbeye should take a bow and go.

Meanwhile, the assembly has approved another six months extension for the 29 Caretaker Chairmen in the state.

However, some groups have threatened to go to court over the refusal of the  state government to conduct local government election.
