Ibadan- Former Gov. Bola Tinubu of Lagos State has appealed to opposition parties to forget politics and embrace the spate of infrastructure developments embarked upon by the ACN administration in Oyo State.
Tinubu made the appeal in Ibadan on Tuesday at the inauguration of a N2.9 billion flyover bridge built by the State Government at the Mokola Roundabout in Ibadan.
He said that the business of the State Government was to transform the lives of the people, noting that the leadership of the ACN was satisfied with the achievements of Gov. Abiola Ajimobi.
The former governor said that the ACN had brought civilisation to the South West geo-political zone of the country, urging the people to sustain the tempo by resisting the opposition taking over power in the next election.
Tinubu commended Ajimobi whom he described as a "performer and extra-ordinary leader" for embarking on the project, adding that the project would impact positively on the lives of the people.
He said that the State Government had made the people the cornerstone of its economic policy, adding, “we all can see developments in all ramifications’’.
Tinubu assured that the projects being inaugurated and those already executed and inaugurated were “tips of the iceberg,” saying that "more good things are expected from the State Government''.
He, however, condemned those whom he said, had opportunity of ruling the state but failed to change the situation.
Ajimobi in his address, said the bridge was a “dream come true and a historical mileage in the state”.
The governor, who noted that the opposition embarked on a campaign of calumny during the construction of the bridge, advised the opposition to always acknowledge excellence in leadership.
He said that the cost of the bridge was not bloated, adding that government had paid compensations to people whose property were affected by the project.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that other projects inaugurated include an ultra-modern motor park at Podo with capacity to accommodate 60 luxury buses and a business complex at Scout Camp in Challenge.
The Acting National Chairman of the ACN, Bisi Akande, and Govs. Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Rochas Okorocha of Imo witnessed the occasion.
Other dignitaries include the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, represented by his deputy, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire and the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Abdul-Azeez Arisekola Alao.
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Kola Daisi, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Badejoko Adeniji, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mrs Monsurat Sunmonu were also in attendance.
