Lagos - Following the spate of pipeline vandalism in the country, the federal government is planning to commence electronic monitoring of pipelines and other facilities channeling gas to power plants across the country, PM News reports.
The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, made the announcement in Ikorodu, Lagos State on Saturday while speaking at the inauguration of the new 220 megawatts turbine at the Egbin Power Plant.
He lamented the extent to which the incessant blowing of gas pipelines by vandals have affected the supply of power in the country.

The minister assured that electricity generation would increase significantly in the next four years, disclosing that power generation was currently standing at 3 600 megawatts, due to gas shortages.
