09 February 2013, 09:29

Mararaba (Nassarawa State) - The Police in Nasarawa State on Friday arraigned three men, Musa AbdulKadir, Inusa Audu and Masubahu Sunusi , before the Chief Magistrates' Court in Mararaba for abducting a passer-by.

The accused persons are between ages 18 and 20.

The prosecution said that the incident was reported by one Emmanuel Ikeibe of Battalion 3 Mararaba at the Sani Abacha Road, Police Station, Mararaba at 7 p.m. on Feb, 6.

The Police Prosecutor, Joseph Ahuwa told the court that Ikeibe was returning from hospital in Mararaba, where he went to see his sick wife when the first accused saw him approaching.

‘‘He suddenly raised an alarm as if he had seen him before’’.

Ahuwa said that, Sunusi started shouting and attracted the attention of the neighborhood, accusing Ikeibe of cheating him of N2,500 about three weeks ago.

He added that it was then that Musa, Audu and others now at large, joined and got hold of Ikeibe the road, preventing him from going home.

The prosecutor said that the accused persons committed offences punishable under sections 97,265,256,397,392 and 114 of the Penal Code.
