Police arraign mechanic for criminal breach of trust

19 September 2013, 18:30

Abuja - The police on Thursday arraigned a 33-year-old mechanic, Obinna Ochendo in a Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja for alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, David Udeh, told the court that the case was reported by Racheal Okosisi of No. 18, Humbo Street, Wuse Zone 7, Abuja, at the Wuse Zone 3 Police Station on Sept. 3.

Udeh said Okosisi told the police that she gave the accused N62 200 sometime in June to buy the necessary spare parts and fix her faulty Mazda car.

He added that the accused failed to buy the spare parts to fix the car and diverted the money to his personal use.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The accused however denied the charges against him.

In his ruling, the Senior Magistrate, Aminu Eri, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Eri said the sureties must be living within the jurisdiction of the court as he adjourned the matter to Oct. 8 for further hearing.
