Abeokuta - The police in Ogun claimed they had arrested 11 suspected robbers at Itori-Oke in the Abeokuta metropolis.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known in a press statement given to the media in Abeokuta on Sunday.
The statement said policemen attached to Ibara Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Oyewole Emmanuel, arrested the suspects at about 4.15am on Sunday.
“The arrest followed a distress call received by the DPO in Ibara, who responded swiftly.
“The suspects were arrested shortly after their operation in the area and identified by the victims of their series of operations in Abeokuta metropolis.
“One of the victims (name withheld) has identified one of the suspects to be a member of a robbery gang that robbed him in his house on August 3 at about 4am.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered that the suspects be thoroughly investigated while they are kept in the SCID, Eleweran,” the statement said.
The statement solicited the cooperation of residents and to trust the police by supplying information that aid the arrest of criminals.
