Zamfara - The Police Command in Zamfara said it arrested 115 cattle rustlers in the state and parts of Katsina State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawal Abdullahi, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Thursday.

Abdullahi said during multiple raids carried out on suspected cattle rustler and other criminal hideouts the police also recovered 1 300 cows.

He said that 53 of the suspects were arrested around Shema village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

He added that the remaining 62 were combed out from different hideouts in Magami, Mada, Nasarawan Burkullu and Gurbin Baure villages of Zamfara.

He also said that following intelligence reports gathered by the police, a notorious cattle rustler was captured.

The spokesman said that items recovered from the raids included six AK 47 rifles, 210 live ammunition, one cartridge, two locally-made guns and six den guns.

He said the command had already made public the recovery of the cows and that any owner that came with convincing evidence was given back such cow.
