Police arrest 12 suspects in Bauchi

Bauchi - The police in Bauchi said on Tuesday that it arrested 12 suspects and recovered 14 stolen vehicles and motor cycles within one week.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Haruna Muhammed, made this known when he brought the suspects before newsmen.

Muhammed also said detectives attached to Township Divisional Headquarters had on February 28, arrested four other suspects over the kidnapping of Abdulkadir Salmanu (3) of Kofar Idi, Bauchi.

Muhammed said the four suspects conspired with four others, now at large, to kidnap the three year old boy and took him to Gwallameji.

"The suspects demanded for N10million ransom from the parents of the child".

The police spokesman said Salisu Salmanu, elder brother to the victim, was a principal suspect in the kidnapping.

"Salmanu was arrested while trying to collect three million naira part ransom from his father".

He said that the victim had been rescued and police had intensified investigations and to apprehend the fleeing four suspects.
