Police arrest 2 over alleged burglary in Jigawa

Jigawa - The Jigawa Police Command has arrested two persons for allegedly stealing 57 telephones in Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Commissioner, Mr Theophilus Kayode, said while parading the suspects on Tuesday in Dutse, that the suspects on Dec. 25, 2012, broke into a shop in Kafin-Hausa and stole assorted phones worth N350,000.

Kayode said the suspects, who were ex-convicts, specialsied in breaking homes, shops and terrorised the residents.

He said that one of them was arrested on Jan. 3, while attempting to break into another residence in the area.

The commissioner said 57 phones and seven memory cards were recovered from the suspects.

“He made confessional statement that one other suspect was his accomplice.

“They also made confessional statement admitting the shop breaking and theft of the handsets,” Kayode added.

The commissioner urged the communities to cooperate with the police to enable them to protect lives and property.
