Kano- The Zone 1 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police in Kano on Thursday arrested two suspected fake drug syndicates and six persons suspected to be looters.
DCP Saidu Madawaki in charge of the D Department of the zone, who paraded the suspects before newsmen in Kano, said that the arrest followed a raid by the Zonal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Madawaki said that the SARS, on April 16, stormed a house at No 9, Aminu Road, Sabon Gari, Kano, where two suspects, identified as Sunday Ike Emezie, 45, and Ikechukwu Obiechi, 35, were arrested for allegedly manufacturing drugs suspected to be fake.
He said that the two drug suspects mixed flour and starch to manufacture fake calamine lotion, BB lotion, Euseal lotion and sold same to unsuspecting customers.
He said that items recovered from the fake drug factory included half bag of flour, empty bottles, mixed starch, different stickers, labels of different drug companies as well as some of the manufactured drugs.
The police commissioner also said that on April 9, the squad apprehended Yusuf Aliyu, 48, Umar Sule, 49 and Kabiru Usman, 52, all of different addresses.
He said that the trio specialised in vandalising company property and were caught with two 2 100-litre capacity silos belonging to a company at Challawa Industrial Area, Kano.
Madawaki said that the suspects had admitted committing the offence and would be charged to court after police investigations.
