Yenagoa - The Bayelsa Police Command on Thursday said it was investigating the killing of a man who was allegedly shot dead by an angry husband over alleged illicit affair with his wife.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 53-year-old suspect, who allegedly shot the deceased dead on Tuesday, had been arrested by the police.

The suspect was said to have caught the deceased in the act with his wife in Aduku community of Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa and shot him dead.

The command's spokesman, ASP Astimin Butswat, who confirmed the incident to NAN, said the incident happened at a cassava processing plant in the area.

Butswat said a team of crack detectives arrested the suspect on Wednesday in Gudugudu camp in Odoni, Sagbama Local Government Area.

"The suspect alleged that the deceased was having an illicit affair with his wife. Investigation is ongoing, ” Butswat said.

A reliable source in the community told NAN that the victim, who was 28 years, was the owner of the cassava processing plant used by the couple to process their produce.

It was gathered that the furious husband, who had been informed of the alleged illicit affair between his wife and the deceased, trailed the duo to the plant and caught them naked.
