Police arrests 10 over Lagos explosion

Lagos - Lagos State Police Command said on Thursday it had arrested 10 suspects allegedly connected to an explosion at FESTAC village on Monday.

The command's Public Relations Officer, Ms Ngozi Braide, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that investigation had begun on the matter.

She said the suspects were undergoing interrogation, to ascertain their involvement in the crime.

The officer stressed that no one particular suspect had been regarded as ``main suspect``.

Braide said that more suspects would still be invited if necessary.

NAN reports that on Monday, an explosion suspected to be bomb killed one Dele Pius, Chairman of Sand Diggers Association, Amuwo-Odofin.

The incident also injured a police officer at the link bridge between FESTAC town and Amuwo-Odofin Estate.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Umar Manko, at a news conference, attributed the explosion to electrical fault.
