Police bust Abuja robbery gang

Abuja – Police detectives from the Federal Capital Territory Command have arrested two suspected members of a robbery gang reportedly operating in Abuja.

They are suspected to be wrecking havoc at  Zenco Garden Estate on Airport Road.

According to a police report obtained by CAJ News, the suspects were  arrested at the scene of operation after engaging in a shootout with police officers.

“Police received a distress call of robbery attack at  Zenco Garden Estate by Conoil, Airport Road.

"Police units raced to the scene where the robbery suspects met and were engaged in a shootout,” the report said.

Police said two suspects were arrested after sustaining serious  gunshot injuries while other suspects managed to flee the scene with various degree of bullet wounds.

The report disclosed that one pump action gun with four live cartridges, one iron bar and two mobile phones were recovered from the suspects.

The injured suspects have been rushed to hospital for medical attention and efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.

The police authority advised the public to notify nearest police station of anyone with gunshot wounds. 

The force also encouraged hospitals and clinics not to give medical attention to anyone with gunshot wounds but report such contact to the nearest police station.
