Lagos - The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Okota Police Station has been arrested and detained on the order of the police top hierarchy.
He is being detained for allowing a police corporal who shot and killed two civilians on a motorbike to escape, reports NewsDay.
His arrest, detention and immediate interrogation came after family members of the deceased petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The detained police chief who was the Officer in Charge of the Provost Office when the incident happened was supposed to have interrogated the corporal and put him through an orderly room trial.
When the case was reopened following the directive from the IG, the present OC Provost said the corporal had been released on the order of Aloba.
He has since been replaced by another DPO at Okota Police Station.
