22 February 2013, 13:16

Bauchi - The Police in Bauchi have refuted reports of a shoot-out between some policemen and soldiers in Bauchi metropolis on Thursday.

Spokesman of the state Police Command, ASP Hassan Auyo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the report, spread through the social media, twitters, was unfounded.

He said although there was a misunderstanding at a police check-point on Dass road in Bauchi metropolis between a soldier and a policeman, it did not degenerate to exchange of fire.

Auyo said when the disagreement ensued, senior officers from both sides intervened, preventing the situation from getting out of control.

He said that the cordial working relationship between soldiers and policemen in the state would continue.
