Abuja - The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has mandated all force leaders to ensure adequate security before, during and after the celebrations of Eid-el-Kabir.
The directive has been given to Assistant Inspectors-Generals Command Commissioners of Police ahead of the festivities scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Olabisi Kolawole, Force Public Relations Officer, said the development was to secure key and vulnerable points, Eid-praying grounds and other places of worship including public places and recreation centres.

“In his message of felicitations, IGP Solomon Arase said, the Nigeria Police Force will provide robust security throughout the period of the festival. He therefore ordered effective and extensive deployment of personnel including movement of necessary logistics to all nooks and crannies in the country,” Kolawole said.
She said the IGP felicitated with Muslims in the country as they celebrated the occasion.
“IGP Arase enjoined Nigerians to always report any act of criminality to the police at all times as the Nigeria Police are prepared to take prompt and decisive actions. On behalf of the entire officers and men of Nigeria Police, he wishes all Muslims, Happy Eid- El- Kabir,” Kolawole added.
The Eid- El- Kabir comes on the back of terror attacks by the Ismalic militant Boko Haram terror group.
