Police investigate murder of girl, 17, in Gombe

13 January 2014, 06:38

Gombe - The police in Gombe say that they are investigating the gruesome murder of a 17-year-old girl, Lilian Samuel, by some unknown assailants.

Fwaje Atajiri, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Gombe State, said this, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Sunday.

He said that the girl was killed by the assailants on Saturday night in the Tumfure neighbourhood of Gombe.

Atajiri said that although police investigations had commenced, no arrest had been made in connection with the killing.

Samuel Mato, the father of the slain girl, told newsmen that Lilian was stabbed in the thigh by the killers, adding that she was later rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where she died.

He said that his daughter was escorting a friend when the assailants accosted her, some metres away from their house and stabbed her with a knife.
