06 August 2015, 15:05

Enugu - The police in Enugu have arrested two suspects alleged to be involved in the recent killing of the traditional ruler of Nkerefi in Enugu East Local Government Area, Igwe Peter Onuoha.

A statement from the police spokesperson, Ebere Amaraizu, on Wednesday said that one of the suspects was arrested on August 2 at Iheokwuru village in Nkerefi while the other was arrested on August 3 at Nara, a neighbouring town.

"The arrests were made possible following the arrest of one of the gang’s kingpins while others involved in the killing of the monarch are being trialed by the police.

"The suspects who hail from Nkerefi are helping the police in their investigations," Amaraizu said.

He said that one of the suspects who claimed to be a carpenter owned a bunk for the sale and consumption of Indian hemp while the other who claimed to be an upholstery maker usually patronised the bunk.

Onuoha was murdered alongside three others on July 11 in Nkerefi over a yet to be established reason.
