Abuja – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, has approved the distribution of new sets of uniforms to officers nationwide.
The distribution, which is ongoing at the Police Central Store in Ikeja, Lagos State, was in keeping with the promise of the IGP to make the new uniforms and accessories available to all ranks, the IGP's office stated.
According to a document released in Abuja, “The issuance of the new uniforms and accoutrements is a continuous exercise would not in any way attract any form of deduction from the salaries of officers and men or extra charges.”
It stated, “All uniforms and accoutrements are issued free of charge to all Inspectors and members of the Rank-and-File while Senior Police Officers (SPOs) are to buy theirs at subsidized prices at Officers’ Store in line with the relevant Regulations of the Force.”
The IGP directed all Command Commissioners and Formation Commanders and Officers in Charge of Command Stores to ensure a stress- free and even distribution of the uniforms and accoutrements without delay.
