"After a fierce gun duel with the hoodlums, one of the robbers who sustained severe bullet wounds as a result of the gallantry fight put forth by the Police operatives died while being conveyed to hospital for treatment.

"Other members of the gang fled the scene with bullet wounds following a hot chase by the operatives," he said.

He stressed that efforts had been intensified to track down the hoodlums who were on the run.

Inalegwu said that items recovered from them are one locally made pistol, AK-47 magazine with 10 live ammunitions, 21 empty shells, wrist watches and one Four-runner jeep.

He said that as part of the renewed campaigned against crime, the command has arrested three notorious "one chance" robbery syndicates operating at different parts of the FCT.
